Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machinery which enables employees to perform jobs without having to construct a scaffolding. They are used to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common machines found in factory and warehouse settings too.
Normally, construction lifts offer wheeled and powered bases which are capable of driving to the work place and have a platform on them which is responsible for elevating employees. There are many various types of lifts and each and every one is suitable to various kinds of jobs and environment.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, that are normally referred to as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where a worker could stand. Normally, bucket trucks are utilized by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers often utilize these equipment to trim trees.
Bucket trucks are outfitted with a boom assembly that is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts are able to travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they can effectively service. This is specially important for power companies. Like for instance, a lot of these companies utilize cherry pickers to raise employees up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets must be frequently inspected and correctly insulated as they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and consist of a work platform that is mounted on an arm that can bend in order to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Normally, the articulated boom lift is utilized for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already completed. Projects which do not require easy access right underneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and difficult to clean areas. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
