What is the Difference between Pneumatic Tire and Cushion Tire?

One of the most common questions about this kind of equipment is knowing the difference between cushion tire forklifts and pneumatic tire forklifts. Each tire type is particularly suited for various requirements.

Similar to tires on a vehicle, pneumatic tires have air inside of them. These kinds of tires are great for indoor application but they are more useful in outdoor "yard" applications and on uneven and gravel surfaces.

Utilized mostly for indoor applications, the cushion tires are made just like a solid industrial tire. The tire will only be effective outdoors on asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outdoors, there is an alternative to get traction tires on the front of the machine. These are referred to as the drive tires. The steer tires or the back tires are specifically designed for steering. Traction tires located on the rear of the forklift would simply wear out faster. Thus, if you do need to work outdoors, having traction on the front and the smooth tires on the rear would be the safest and most economical way to operate.

What is the distinction between Air Pneumatic and Solid Pneumatic tires?

It could be quite tricky when trying to determine the main distinction between the two kinds of tires. They would work well in both in gravel and asphalt conditions. The main difference between the two tire types is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means you cannot pop, gouge and puncture them as they are durable. These tires are more pricey compared to air pneumatic tires because they are made up of way more rubber. These kinds of tires are best suited for places like lumber yards and scrap yards where there might be a lot of debris or sharp objects on the ground.

The pneumatic tire could be punctured accidentally. You can get flat tires from them when this happens. Prior to operating a forklift with air pneumatic tires, inspect your work area and be sure that the yard is free of nails, scrap debris and sharp metals. In the majority of applications, regular air pneumatic tires work great.
